Catrike has just unveiled its brand-new full-suspension trike, the All Road—a model that looks back to the company’s roots while embracing the needs of today’s recumbent riders. This American manufacturer is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the All Road perfectly embodies that milestone. At first glance, it’s unmistakably a Catrike: a clean, Florida-built aluminum frame, a seat with adjustable recline and folding backrest, and a single component configuration. Riders can personalize their trike with a wide range of accessories and choose from three distinctive anniversary color options.
The Catrike Road Legacy
Few names in the recumbent world carry as much history as Catrike Road. When the original Road debuted in 2002, it quickly became the most important model for the brand. In 2012, Catrike introduced an updated Road with a progressive rear suspension that smoothed out rough pavement and enhanced long-distance comfort.
In 2016 Catrike introduced the full suspension Dumont with patented front-suspension spindles that the Road adopted a year later and became the Catrike Road AR. The “AR” stood for All-Road and remained in the lineup until 2020, when Catrike retired the model.
The All-New All Road
For its 25th anniversary, Catrike has revived the Road nameplate with a completely new machine: the Catrike All Road. While it borrows its full-suspension concept from its predecessor, it takes a more practical approach. All Road features three 20-inch wheels with Schwalbe Big Apple 2.0 tires, Catrike’s patented anti-dive front suspension, and an adjustable rear suspension system plus 1×10 MicroShift drivetrain.
The elevated, adjustable seat makes getting in and out much easier—clearly positioning the All Road closer to the Catrike Trail in spirit than to the lower more sporty Dumont. In fact, the seat sits noticeably higher (330 mm / 13″ vs. 254 mm / 10″ of the Dumont), and the difference between the seat and bottom-bracket heights is smaller for All Road as well, creating a more upright, relaxed riding position.
Unlike the Dumont, the new All Road is non-folding trike. The maximum rider weight remains 125 kg / 275 lbs, consistent with other models in the Catrike lineup except for the heavy-duty Max.
The All Road will be offered in Catrike’s upcoming Star White colorway and two 25th-anniversary limited editions: Electric Sky and Atomic Mango, each limited to just 25 units of trikes produced in such color only. If you look at those color combinations closer, you realize, that they are not of the same tone, but a two-tone or better to say a two-shade of a same color which look really nice!
The All-Road Experience
While its name honors the Road lineage, the new Catrike All Road is not simply a Dumont with smaller wheels—it’s a thoughtfully designed comfort trike bridging the gap between the sporty and the comfy. For riders who value smooth suspension and easy seating over folding convenience, this may be a very good choice.
