Here is another record from the beginning of July! James Coxon is a star at least in the British HPV community, but also among those that follow European HPV racing. His last attempt was a 100 km WUCA record for an unfaired recumbent trike. And the ride was successful!

Here is a funny way James invited his friends to join him during the attempt:
“Just under 4 weeks now until attempting the 100km world record. If you fancy giving me some encouragement, it is taking place at Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales , 8th July, 6pm.

If all goes well, it should take just over 2 hours, followed by a few beers after in a local pub. Fully understand if you want to miss the first hour or so; wish I could 🤣🤣”

And the result is 2 hours 3mins 59 secs meaning that James was averaging 48.4 km/h (30.07 mph). James was even aiming to beat the 100km indoor record set by an upright bike, which was 2 hours and 19 minutes, and he clearly did that.

James used the Phantom trike from Tim Corbett in Australia, all carbon, 20-inch wheels, 6-speed (12-18), and 90t carbon chainring by Digirit. 105 Shimano derailleur, Wahoo power pedals, Bioracer skinsuit, and Oakley helmet were used as well.

Congratulation, James!
