Riding the length of Great Britain is a dream for many cyclists and also a huge adventure. Especially if you want to break a record, but riding it on a handcycle is a challenge of another level. I personally don’t really count handbikes among recumbent trikes, because it is technically a very different machine, but I have a deep respect for all the hand cyclists. And so I have to publish this video of Great Britain Paralympian Mel Nicholls who smashed the women and also men world record on the epic route by days.

The Lands End to John O’Groats is a famous route, 874 miles / 1407 kilometers through the heart of the country from Cornwall to Scotland. Most cyclists make it in 10 to 14 days however the Men’s record is 43 hours, 25 minutes and 13 seconds and Women’s record is 52 hours, 45 minutes, and 11 seconds. The handbike records are mentioned in the documentary video and I leave it for you to be surprised by Mel’s achievement. It is a wonderful and inspirational story.
