Here is the press release that I just received from Terra Cycle. Before you start reading, I can promise you an interview with Pat Franz about different recumbent-related topics like the industry’s evolution, shows, or standardization of some specific recumbent parts. I will publish it next week.
I have met Caz and Quintin several times; they are both smart and friendly. I wish them success! The recumbent industry needs a serious recumbent accessories manufacturer like Terra Cycle is!
TerraCycle, Inc., the world’s premier recumbent cycling accessories manufacturer, announces that as of January 1st, 2023, two longtime employees are buying the company and taking over day-to-day operations.Founder Pat Franz is retiring, though he’ll remain connected in an advisory role.
The two buyers, Casimir Covert-Keefe and Quintin Pruett, have been key players in upgrading, modernizing, and streamlining the company’s internal processes with new software, equipment, people, and procedures over the last two years.
We could not have handled the crazy growth and the supply chain issues during COVID without the things Caz and Quintin put in place. They are definitely ready. I am stoked to hand things over to them and be able to focus on my passions: riding and tinkering. — Pat Franz
Caz has been at TerraCycle since 2011. Over the years, he’s played a hand in every operation in the shop. Thanks to Pat’s trust and guidance, Caz has spent the better part of the last decade playing an outsized role in high-level organizational decisions.
Quintin has been at TerraCycle for four-and-a-half years now. He was the first full-time employee TerraCycle ever hired who came with formal expertise in programming and operating CNC machines. His mechanical and design prowess have helped us to improve the way we run production and keep up with growing demand.
We view Caz and Quintin as high standards people in all ways, and it is nice, and rare to be in that kind of company. We really like working with you. — Kelvin Clark, Angletech
For Pat’s part, he’s going to continue being Pat. He’ll be retiring, but he’ll keep tinkering and inventing. He’ll still be a frequent guest in the shop, crafting new widgets or sharing ideas that pop into his brain. He’s most excited to get out from behind the desk and we’re all cheering him on for whatever that looks like.
I have had the pleasure of watching T-Cycle evolve and grow over the years from an idler company to what it is today. I know that you guys will continue to do a great job and I look forward to working with you in the coming years. — Jessie Bostic, Hostel Shoppe
2023 will only bring more change to the cycling world, but the TerraCycle team is dedicated to keeping customer service strong, products innovative and fresh, and our commitment to the recumbent community true.
Pat has created a legacy of learning and self-improvement, of trust and pride in one’s work, and we’re definitely keeping that going. – Casimir Covert-Keefe, CEO
Located in Portland, OR, TerraCycle has been the world’s foremost inventor and manufacturer of recumbent cycling accessories since 1996.
