In 2026, the International Special Bikes Show SPEZI opens an exciting new chapter as it moves to Freiburg im Breisgau for the very first time. After three successful years in Lauchringen near the Swiss border and decades of history in Germersheim, the iconic show is heading to one of Germany’s most bike-friendly cities. The venue will be Messe Freiburg, welcoming visitors on April 25 and 26, 2026.

SPEZI 2026 Arrives in Germany’s Most Bike-Friendly City
Freiburg im Breisgau is indeed the correct and full name, often shortened locally to Freiburg i.Br., and it fits SPEZI perfectly. Known as a university city with a strong cycling culture, progressive mobility policies, and a relaxed southern lifestyle, Freiburg makes arriving by bike, train, or car refreshingly easy. High-speed rail connections link the city to major German hubs, while highways provide quick access by car. Its location near the borders with France and Switzerland also makes the show especially attractive for visitors from Belgium, the Netherlands, and beyond, turning SPEZI 2026 into a truly international meeting point for the special bike world.
The move to Freiburg is more than a change of scenery. As the industry magazine Velobiz notes in its interview with the organizers, SPEZI sees itself as “eine Mobilitätsmesse, die Grenzen auslotet,” a mobility show that explores and pushes boundaries. Another line from the same interview underlines the direction clearly: SPEZI is not just about products, but about showing how diverse and inclusive future mobility can be. Freiburg, with its long-standing commitment to sustainable transport, offers the ideal backdrop for that vision.

At SPEZI 2026, visitors can once again experience the full spectrum of special bikes. From velomobiles, tandems, folding bikes, and compact cargo bikes to full-size parcel transporters, recumbent bikes, recumbent trikes, rehab cycles, and senior-friendly designs, everything can be seen, touched, and most importantly, tested. The familiar SPEZI atmosphere remains, with a relaxed, family-friendly festival vibe, cozy areas to take a break, and plenty of time for conversations with manufacturers and fellow enthusiasts.
Getting to the show itself is easier than ever. The fair ticket doubles as a combo ticket for Freiburg’s regional transport association and the Frelo bike-sharing system, making the last mile effortless. For those who want to stay right in the middle of the action, the popular camping area returns directly on the exhibition grounds, complete with views of the Europa-Park Stadium and the unmistakable SPEZI camping spirit.
Discounted tickets till December 31
There is also a timely reason to decide now. Until tomorrow, December 31, a special discount applies to weekend tickets. The standard weekend ticket is currently available for €15.98 instead of €21.30, with reduced tickets discounted as well. For anyone considering a spring trip to one of Germany’s most charming cycling cities, this is a perfect excuse to lock in the date.
Between the historic old town, the Münster market, the views from Schlossberg, and Freiburg’s unmistakable cycling culture, SPEZI 2026 promises to be more than just a trade show. It is shaping up to be a celebration of special bikes, sustainable mobility, and a city that lives and breathes cycling.
